What is HDD-Housing e.U.?
HDD-Housing e.U. is a Online Colocation Service for Hard Disk Drives (HDDs). Depending on the size of your HDDs, significantly lower costs can be achieved than offers that charge based on storage space. Especially in the case of restoration, enormous cost and time savings are possible.
Initial Backup and Restore can also be done over internet.

How can I use the Service?
Service
- The HDD will be installed in a server with ECC RAM on which Proxmox is running. Server location Graz area, Austria
- Possible File Systems
- ZFS
- BTRFS (Since ZFS Bug 15526)
- For other free file systems please contact us
- S.M.A.R.T. values and disk space usage for the last 365 days can be viewed on a Grafana dashboard
- E-Mail on HDD error
- Backup up to 1Gbit, restore currently limited to about 50MBit. In case of disaster recovery mailing HDDs is currently the fastest option
- Supported HDDs: 3,5” & 2,5”, SATA & SAS, no TB limit

- The Pool can be prepared onsite to avoid sending the initial backup over the internet
- New HDDs can be sent for restore, on which the data is cloned. Customer pays shipping and return shipping according to Post.at calculator, no additional handling fees

Payment obligation begins with the month in which the HDD(s) is/are installed. The HDD is usually installed and removed on the first of the month.
